i can't see them accepting responsibility for poor design, as they appear to be laying the blame on Sukita. i can't believe he'd be "extremely happy" with how some of the pages are arranged but i expect he's "extremely happy" with his pay packet.
has anyone received their collector edition yet?

I emailed Genesis to ask if my copy is on the way or still waiting, they said all collector copies must be dispatched by the end of this month.

I received my Collectors Edition on Saturday. My number was #999, presumably to mirror my Deluxe STS number #99. It has small silver dusting but not worth sending my copy back for repair/replacement. I do agree that that the photos spread across 2 pages are dissapointing, but could maybe be issued to buyers free as a smaller A5 brochure with the pictures in landscape. It is also nice to see a 2012 date on the Bowie signature, just to let us know he's still around.

Maybe Genesis should be advised to log onto this Forum.

Sylvian Sun I finally emailed them after seeing that they claimed no one else has had any issues. I felt I needed to give you and others some back up. I had many quality control issues, and they have offered to replace my copy, which I appreciate. But they definitely danced around many of the issues I brought up.

Just received my copy right now!! It's 586, and it's in pristine condition.

My copy has, i am pleased to say been returned! It hasn't been replaced as such, just looks like the faulty pages have been taken out and re-inserted with new ones. All the packaging is the same, even the tape. I removed the single and print after taking Shooky,s advice before sending it and secretly hoped they would replace them but they didn't.It did come back with a new pouch, so i have a spare (ebay anyone)? In conclusion i am glad i sent it back.I am glad i own a copy. I think the content leaves a bit to be desired.I feel it is far too delicate to display or refer to on a regular basis and i think the Collector issue is too expensive as a "coffee table" book so i won't be purchasing one. So, it is to be boxed up and packed away for the odd look at now again.
I REALLY want that Diamond Dogs genetals cover on ebay, roll on Saturday, i'll have few beers and bid.

Thats a quick turnaround good news Tomjoe.Shooky may consider the same with the smudge on his book to get it up to a acceptable standard of enjoyment rather then a door stop. Stump

the smudge is just one of several issues with my door-stop.
today the collector edition arrived. i had to pay around £15 in customs charges, so only a minor insult. pleased to see a protective sheet of plastic over the mirror, an obvious oversight on the deluxe edition. the first 30 pages are rippled probably due to being sat in a cold storage room at customs for a few days...hopefully they'll flatten with time. happy to report most of the problems with the deluxe are absent this time around although there's still too much silver encroaching and no, it doesn't wipe off.
looking at it with fresh eyes i cannot help feeling disappointed by the editing and design. only 20-30% of the photos "deserve" to be in a book at all, let alone one as costly as this. too many mediocre shots to want to dip into it often. with the benefit of hindsight i'd have passed on it, hoping for a sensibly priced high street edition down the line.
my first and last genesis book.

Shooky, i own a collector issue of "Moonage Daydream" from Genesis and have to say it is beautifully put together and worth the investment. There is a good ammount of text and some excellent pictures and memorabillia. My "From STS Deluxe" is also nice but not as good as MD with good text and some interesting touches. The Sukita book is, by comparison a bit of a cash in i'm afraid. I think Genesis need to be referred to this site once all books have been sent out for feed back for sure.
