Second US issue with tan label, also available with orange labels. Inner bag has the lyrics similar to the UK, though the UK contains a minor font variation. Title was on a sticker on the shrinkwrap (in a different design to the US 1st issue) and image centred in the black border. Compared to the original US jacket as well as the UK edition, a different hue. The back cover is in mono, not the sepia tint of the original issue. It is a single sheet glued on to the heavy card sleeve. The hand written "RE" reveals there has been a revision, a system employed on US RCA LPs. In this case it refers to the additional credit stating "Richard Wakeman is an exclusive recording artist of A&M Records, Inc." written in an attempt to match Bowie's handwritten sleeve text.

This album as issued (original catalogue number, B&W rear cover, Rick Wakeman A&M credit) was first issued in 1972, which has been determined by the presence of a 1972 Philippines pressing that originates from this cover, though with sepia toned rear. This pressing is a post or late 75 pressing, as determined by the tan labels.

NB: this copy has an embossed "NOT FOR SALE PROMOTION USE ONLY" running diagonally at the top right (see scan, bottom)

Fourth and final US RCA issue with "Previously released as AFL1-4623" printed bottom left of the front cover. Very pink hue to the cover. Back cover remains mono, this time with a number of untidy modifications to earlier issues. Lyric insert absent from this issue.

First issue with orange labels. This copy does not have the added text about Rick Wakeman on the back that the first copy above has. Also the back is sepia-coloured, not black and white. This is a 1975 pressing, identified by the Fascination flyer and the orange labels. The labels for this 2nd US edition are the same as the 1971 issue, the cover the same as the one pictured at the top of the list with the tan labels. The sticker shown sitting against the front cover was part of the shrink wrap and is the most common design of the US stickers. This copy also has more ink applied to the rear cover - note the heavy lines under "Side two".

Compared to the original edition (1st US edition above), the background of this 2nd US edition is brownish, whereas the original is decidedly greenish. The skin colour is also more pink than the first edition.
