Hi everyone,
This year Tony Visconti played Fashion demo in Madrid.
Anyone heard it?
I saw the video but this part is missed.

thank you. Interesting when he says, "I spoke to David a few months ago and he asked me if I wanted to remix [Lodger] and I said yes!"

I would have preferred "Scary monters" with some Bonus recording 8) but Lodger is a good choice and could be better with a better mix because originally I think it isn't very good.

If they remix and re-issue Lodger, they ought to let us hear the demos

This doesn't make any sense at all.

From a commercial point of view, remixing Lodger isn't likely to recoup their costs, whereas Scary monsters or "Heroes" are likely to ship more units.

And whatever happened to the surround mix of Low? Why spend the time remixing an album if it's never going to be released?

I've heard the excuse in the past that a number of artists have been waiting to find out what format to release surround mixes in.

It looks like Blu-ray is the way to go. The ones i've got sound as good (or better) than my DVD-A and SACD discs. Also Blu-ray players are now more widely available much cheaper than SACD players.

i think you're reading too much into it. it's an off-the-cuff remark, nothing to suggest it's an imminent project. i also don't think "shipping units" is a priority for Bowie at this stage of his career. it would be an artistic decision, nothing else. visconti expresses dissatisfaction with the mix, so if there was an opportunity to do it again he would jump at the chance.

next year sees the new contract and the opportunity to deliver new masters of the back catalogue. with no hard evidence i do believe that the likes of the Low 5.1 and other promised titles like the Hunky Dory SE have been held back with this in mind. with the positive response to the self-titled '67 and '69 deluxe releases, it would be great to see a consistent double disc set of each album, something EMI proved spectacularly inept at doing.

i'd also like to see bowie go hi-res but that will mean a 180 in terms of caring about sound quality for him. the last couple of years have shown some improvement on that side of things so you never know. the blu-ray format offers enough multi-media options to appeal to bowie, and satisfy the needs of surround fans and audiophiles alike. fingers crossed physical media is in his plans.

I am agree with you shooky. I Hope that bowie is satisfied with the news issues from his back catalogue . Vinyls are back in the street but this time with a better quality.

Lodger original mix is not very good. Many songs sound like a "drafts" maybe it was an artistic choice at this time but Lodger is underestimated. This is partly because it not sound very fine.
Also Bowie has some regrets with "Never let me down" but it should re-record some parts of instrumentation. I would like to hear the firsts demos recorded in switzerland more "Rock" that "Rock FM" :?

Are you sure you're not confusing this for either the Ashes To Ashes or Scary Monsters demo snippets that are doing the rounds, both aired by Tony Visconti on radio?

No, this year Visconti sang the line JA-JA-JAMAICA instead FA-FA-FASHION and
played a snippet of the original demo to audience, but this part is absent from
internet video.
