I know King Dice has already mentioned in the news section that Subterraneans is featured in the short film that is included on the Moon DVD.

I thought this should have its own thread as it is a different mix of the song.

The (large) fragment of Subterraneans used in the film is mixed in surround sound and sounds amazing. It really fills up the room with various instruments and vocal sounds.

What i'd like to know is, was this track mixed for the film or did Duncan use a version of Subterraneans done for a 5.1 release of Low?

I feel that it is unlikely to have been done for the film as there wouldn't have been enough money to fund the mix.

That gives me hope that a full 5.1 mix of Low has been created and if what i've heard of Subterraneans is anything to go by, this will be a spectacular release.

Maybe once the 5.1 mix of Station to station comes out, we'll be lucky enough to get a surround mix of Low.

I think Tony Visconti mentions in his book that he has done a surround mix of Low.

I recalled reading this also PP, (and have just doubled checked) yet Tony's website doesn't inlcude Low in the 5.1 mixes and don't see it on here perhaps it is a very recent project. Hearing Low in 5.1 would be outstanding.

Don't know which edition of Moon you have, but I have the UK R2 version, and I just watched the Whistle short film included on it, and it has no 5.1 mix, just a (lossy) stereo mix...
You sure you don't have Dolby PL II on or something..?

Great film, by the way, Whistle is, missed it the first time I watched Moon (which is also great, of course)

I've got no idea, all I recall was there were distinct instruments and vocal sounds coming from the surround speakers. It was an Aussie release, but I rented it so I don't have it anymore. I'm planning on buying a blu-ray when the price of the disc comes down.

Maybe my receiver can do that with a stereo mix, however it's the first time i've ever noticed it happen.

I read Visconti's book on holiday and he does indeed mention Low as one of the surround mixes he has done, so here's hoping.

Also, didn't Visconti also do the Reality 5.1 mix that is on the DualDisc? He doesn't mention that in the book, or on his site.
