A recording of 1976-02-03 Seattle from the master has surfaced at Dimeadozen and Mindwarppavilion.
The quality is great, especially for 1976 - and the show includes the rarely played Sister Midnight. Good to see recordings like these still show up!

Just started listening to this. Excellent. What a wonderful way to spend a lazy Sunday morning. One of my favourite tours.

Have just listened to a few tracks so far. Love George Murray's bass at the beginning of Station To Station. Word On A Wing seems "too tight". Bowie has more lilting vocals with this song by the Nassau show and the "Ready" refrain is more relaxed by Nassau as well. During this performance the "Ready" refrain seems too abrupt and mechanical. eg. 3.58 secs. I am too fussy perhaps.

Stay is brilliant. TVC15 is jolly good as well (except for Bowie's awkward sax). Jean Genie has a few timing and cue errors at the beginning. Never been a big fan of "Five Years" on this tour.

I have been playing around with the equalisation a bit in iTunes during playback. The low end is emphasized and the upper frequencies subdued with this recording. I have tried to compensate. I find if I increase the highs using a gradual curve from iKhz upwards the guitars and keyboards are naturally more pronounced. Getting Bowie's voice "right" is hard. Need to play around with 500hz and 1khz more.

I have decreased the low frequencies as I think the bass is too "boomy". Still experimenting with that.

When I obtain something I "like" I save the settings as an equalisation preset and then set that as the default setting for the playlist in iTunes. See the attached images. You may hate these settings but they suit both my 51 year old ear holes. Still a work in progress.

I have an old 5.1 Sony receiver and I use the Live House setting to give the sound a more airy feeling. I decrease the delay for the rear speakers, etc so it does not sound like an "echo chamber".

Well, I shall keep listening. No one is at home so I have pumped up the volume.

Cheers

John
