Perhaps in this case we should add the low quality picture to the discography, as I think the chances are very slim we will get better pictures...

beckenham wrote: Do you think they're fair prices? That seems to be about the going rate for the Diamond Dogs, but I don't see anyone paying this much for the TMWSTW album to be honest. It's a reissue, so not as iconic as a red Low for instance (which is also a reissue, but at least that's on RCA...) beckenham wrote: Agreed, I'll do it now. Thanks!

impossible to value these things... we don't know if it was authorised or the work of an after-hours opportunist. is it "official"? it would be a lot more desirable if both records were gold too. considering a regular copy could be found for $50 or less, i'd say $500 would be more realistic.

Red RCA logo on labels
Alan, it isn't exactly what i want to explain first
The RCA logo print in the press release is Red . It's the first time i see a RCA logo print in red. usually the press release with bowie's promos are printed in black, only one color of print, this one have 2 colors. I asked Jean Charles if he has one like that for another issue...
The press release indicates: Deposito legal: M.3176 - 1975 but it 's not the same as the
The Deposito legal printed Black on the white label is M.39835 -1974 as the stock copies ! The RCA logo on the labels are printed black as the other spanish promo .
David Live released in spain in 1975 not in 1974 . as Aladdin Sane released in spain in 1976 not in 1973

Ok, I think I've go it now. It sounds like the cue sheet/press release was prepared before RCA Spain dropped Cracked Actor?
Can you also upload photos? It'll be a lot easier to explain this with a full discography entry.

I think that DAVID LIVE was made and the cover printed by RCA in 1974 but it's realised only in Spain in 1975 like indicated by the press release with another "Déposito légal"
Don't forget that a lot of records ( not only bowie) were censored in spain till 1975 . Year of the General Francisco Franco death !

Right, I think I finally understand what's happening here. The "Déposito légal" (Copyright deposit) code is a number assigned to any publication, music, film, written word, etc.. The number on the press release may therefore be the number assigned to the text in the press release, not the album. Do you have another pre-1976 Spanish press release to confirm the theory? I think a Déposito légal code also confirms the publication was approved by the censor and the publisher can't claim a valid copyright without it.

Yes, i have the Aladdin sane (1976) promo but the press release hasn't the Copyright deposit print on the sheet because he was realised only in 1976. The LP was censored before and i don't think that RCA spain made and printed a cover before. There are 2 tracks of Aladdin sane recorded on David Live ( cracked Actor is censored) . Aladdin sane was censored in spain in 1973.

It's not clear if the 1975 code was issued for music or the written word 2. We’ve only seen copies of the album with the 1974 code

ok Alan,
but its very strange that a promo made in 1974 and cover printed in 1974 was dispatched at the radio station with a press release dated and Copyright deposit in 1975.
David live released in USA and Uk in october 1974.
The press release indicates:
"El lanzamiento se ha efectuado casi simultaneamente en los Estados Unidos, Inglaterra y España. Habiendose agotado rapidamente la primera tirada en los dos primeros paises mencionados"
"The launch was carried out almost simultaneously in the United States, England and Spain. First editions have been quickly sold in the two countries mentioned "
so, my theory is that first editions of "David live" were only dispatched in retailer shop in Spain, in 1975 . There is no sense that a press release has a Copyright deposit in 1975. There is not mentioned the name or first name of the author on the press release. I think realy that the stock 's copies and promos were manufactured in 1974 but the committee of censorship prevented the album's release in 1974 because Aladdin Sane was censored in 1973. Cracked Actor has-been censored but there are 2 other songs of Aladdin sane not censored in David live ". With General Franco death in 1975, "David Live" has finally seen the light of day and in 1976 Aladdin Sane ( first issue price code B) too like a lot of recording censored before 1975
But it's only details of rock history in spain maybe i'm the only one interested by those details... of course
