This recent interview with Gail Ann Dorsey is quite interesting.
She dispells the rumor that Bowie would be in ill health and says he is slowly thinking about a new album!
There are a few errors in the article though, so I'm not sure how accurate this is - but if this is indeed really what Gail Ann Dorsey told them it is very good news indeed!
A quick translation of the interesting part:
Quote: David Bowie is terminally ill, it can be read on the Internet.
(excited) "That is not true. I heard David two weeks ago when I congratulated him on his 63rd birthday. He sounded excellent and has plans to slowly start work on a new album. "
What can we expect?
"You can not ignore his current life. Bowie has become a family man and enjoys to see his children grow up close to him. But after six years he feels the urge to get in the studio with musicans he likes. He closely follows bands like Arcade Fire in recent months. But he is inspired by ancient Chinese folk and jazz these days as well. "
In May a double tribute album is released with Bowie covers by diverse artists (from Carla Bruni to MGMT and Soulwax).
"Well, I talked about it with David. He feels he should urgently get back to work, because too many of these tributes in a short time usually mean that your career is becoming regarded as completed. "

On the other hand there's also this quote from Peter Gabriel:
Quote: Bowie didn’t want to play — Brian Eno says David is not very interested in music any more. But because Eno was the co-writer, and performed on the track, we got away with it. He’s recording In Your Eyes.

I think both can overlap. Bowie may not want to rerecord another artist's music right now, because he is planning his new sound for the new album. He might have a plan for how he wants to jump back into the public again, and that plan might not include covers on another artist's album.
It is interesting that Gail's interview overlaps with Bowie's recent "What's on my iPod" article. I think that Bowie, talking about music he likes, is a better indicator than anything.

he he..
good point!
That should probably get him going! I love his humour..
and also I trust G.A.D more than this P. Gabriel..
who is that guy anyway?!
his version of "Heroes" was the worst Bowie-cover I ever heard. period.
if he had sung his own lyrix and called it something else.. then it would perhaps have been interesting... but as a Bowie-song. NEIN NEIN!
: )

judging from his puffy face on extra, no interviews since 2007 and staged shots of him walking in new york, i think he suffered a stroke in 2008, which is sadly common for people on blood thinners, look at the photos where he's clutching the bag, those fingers haven't moved in any of the shots. he could have possibly lost his ability to speak and therefore sing. i really hope i'm wrong and I do not wish to post this on bowienet since so many magazine get their info from it.

It isn't info though, but pure speculation.

and what's this forum, News Of The World? i have no medical background to dispute your "evidence" but i think this would have been reported after public appearances including the premiere of Moon. also, if his fingers can't move then are you accusing bowienet of giving faked autographs as competition prizes in recent years?

sigh
this is just my opinion, no reason for me to speculate, but i beg to differ on the" if he was ill it would have been reported" quite the contrary, it will be under wraps, just like the "stent" surgery, it was no stent, according to an interview with the surgeon on bild magazine, it was a massive heart attack that required a patch on his heart. as far as signature goes, the rebel rebel prizes were delayed up to a year, he could have learned to sign again with therapy, again i don;t know and i wish him all the best. didn;t mean to make anyone angry.

His supposed ill health is exactly what was refuted by Gail Ann in the above interview:
Quote: David Bowie is terminally ill, it can be read on the Internet.
(excited) "That is not true. I heard David two weeks ago when I congratulated him on his 63rd birthday. He sounded excellent and has plans to slowly start work on a new album. "
So the only information we have gotten from anyone close to the Bowie camp is that there is nothing wrong with his health - why insisting on believing otherwise?

That is very exciting to read

without wishing to appear to be judgmental of other posts, this is a person that is being talked and publicly speculated about here, not a product.
no matter how many records we have bought i don't think any of us should really be drawing such conclusions, i think some of this commentary has gone a little too far.

have i gone too far beacuse i expressed a genuine concern? no live interviews in years and his voiceover on bandslam is really weak, I 'm drawing my own conclusion, he is clearly not well.

if you look in the last shot, he has actually moved his index finger.
http://photo.wenn.com/index.php?action= ... tion=start
you will see he is actually holding the bottom of his jacket, on another note Iman also hasnt moved her left hand either, did she have a stroke as well or is she just holding her bag up.

not sure we need to revisit this subject until new evidence or comments are forthcoming from an official source. i think ragazzosolo's concerns are genuine and not intended to provoke. he's not alone in questioning the state of bowie's health, but it is a little awkward to be discussing on an open forum.

thank you shooky, makes you wonder doesn't it? previous photos he was holding an unbrella, now he's clutching a water bottle, same hand...
