I remember picking up the Jap cd of Bowie Rare when it was first released a long time ago. I am certain that the source for the disc is not vinyl. I always presumed it was taken from the tape. I remember this because I had a rule of not replicating my vinyl on cd and would have checked as it being so expensive at the time.
