Just noticed this on e-bay,

Can't seem to do that link that you more adept computer users provide, but just type in 'david bowie promo' and you will spot it.

Don't see this often, the seller doesn't seem to be shouting about it much, considering it's rarity. The location is France though, looks the real thing at a glance.

Pete.

I can't even imagine an edit of StS down to 3:40. Where can I hear this track? Has it ever appeared elsewhere (compilation, promo, etc.)?

it's on the Speaking In Tongues bootleg CD in so-so quality. it's one of the least imaginative edits ever but obviously a rarity. it begins with the drums just prior to the "once there were mountains..." line, and continues as normal before fading. the b-side is a unique edit of TVC15 too.

Went for £593.67 in the end. Won't see another for years I expect.

As already said by others, it never came out, the promo itself wasn't distributed, so I presume either a lot got destroyed, or they pressed very few and ,quickly decided it wasn't going to happen. Makes you wonder what the purpose of it was in the first place, and why France in particular? I put a link to a file of this edit (that someone had previously made available from this site or Bowie audio) through 4shared, but I can't spot it in the topics list. It was a topic I didn't start but I would have thought it would have been under 'Singles'. I think my account with 4shared has expired, but I will try to sort it out again when I have more time, unless someone beats me to it. Must be one of the oddest edits of a Bowie tune there is. The edit of TVC15 is unique to that single too. Nothing special, just a different running time to add to all the others.
The best part of £600 though!...record collector valued it at £300+ a while back.

It seems the file is still there, I thought it was meant to expire months ago!
