from the IdbD:
In the US, an Extended Edit was released on Disconet 12" (MWDN709). A Scumfrog vs Bowie remake is included on Club Bowie, whereas the Scumfrog Alternate Club Mix, Scumfrog Club Mix, Patriotic Club Mix and Scumfrog Radio Mix have appeared only on an in-house promo 3CDR.
there's also the American Dream P.Diddy thing.
note that bowie doesn't appear on the instrumental.

I found it on ebay ,The seller has heaps of remix cds but only this one of Bowie. No sources are mentioned on the disc as it is unofficial but obviously some of it is from the TINA promo disc.

i'd guess quite a few of those are fakes. the "single" version should be the same as the 12" and LP versions, no? and as mentioned before bowie's not on the instrumental so those are presumably for pat metheny group completists?

Yes, "FAKE" , but so cool ! The Sandstorm mix has sound bites of GW Bush and news readers circa Desert Storm, the Chris Coco one is a female singer not dis-similar to Gail Anne Dorsey ( but not ). It is well presented with a picture disc and the lyrics are incorporated in the artwork. The sound quality is excellent but the loudness varies slightly with a couple of tracks. The cover is of a REALITY period Bowie and the rear photo is the one from Changes 2.

There is the different mix from the end credits of the movie which turned up a while ago.
I have these on my hard drive too.
Akabu vs. David Bowie - This Is Not You (Francisco Savier Balearic Club Mix) David Bowie - This Is Not America (Hardy Extended Mastermix Remix) David Bowie - This Is Not America (Sahara Mix) David Bowie - This Is Not America (disconet Remix Extended Edit) David Bowie - This Is Not America (the Ultrasound 12 Inch Version)
plus the regular versions.

i've just been listening to two versions of the instrumental and they have a very subtle difference at the end. i noticed because one was 10 seconds longer than the other. this is often just a difference in encoding or a vinyl copy ripped at slightly the wrong speed. anyway, one version has a kind of phased synth note over the last few seconds that is not on the other. looking at the id3 of the "with synth" version, it was ripped from this disc. http://www.last.fm/music/Various+Artist ... 8disc+2%29it could be a crossfade of some sort, but the track fades to silence so i don't think so. i only have one 7 inch so can't compare but if anyone out there has multiple copies, perhaps there are two sanctioned versions out there. and personally, i include the instrumental as a part of the Bowie catalogue, who knows if he clicks his fingers in there somewhere or not. christian

Possibly unofficial, but the '(with) extended instrumental version' mentioned earlier in this thread was released on 12" vinyl in March. This Is Not AmericaAttachment:
