From his twitter feed - http://twitter.com/#!/NicholasPegg

new updated edition of my book 'The Complete David Bowie' is now scheduled for publication by Titan Books on 27 September.

I still haven't finished reading the 2009 edition!

Pegg has to do it to get the book back on the shelves. His publishers Reynolds and Hearn folded and the 2009 edition is no longer available.

Since Reynolds and Hearn went bust I've seen the 2009 edition on sale for over £100. Ridiculous.

Apparently there's a lot of new information included, not to mention the significant additions to the discography that have appeared in the last 12 months or so.

Will any of you who purchased the last edition fork out for this one?
I waited for 3 updates before upgrading last year and it was well worth it.
But to do this so soon makes me think the fans are being had over.
A bit likeRCA did with all the repackaging many years back.
By the way the book is fantastic, whichever edition(s) you own and it is my Bible.
But i still say "too soon"

as noted already, he's with a new publisher now and the book is technically OOP. both pegg and his new publisher will want the book out there, so he may as well update it at the same time. nobody's forcing us to buy it, but yes, i'll grab it as it can only be an improved version of the best bowie book available (IMO).

and which RCA repackaging are you referring to? did you mean the EMI's in '99? in each case, the standard bowie reissues have coincided with a change in label (RCA > Ryko/EMI > EMI/Virgin). anniversary editions aside, i don't think there's been any exploiting the fans. it's twelve years since the last round of remasters... i'd be up for a no-frills reissue campaign of the RCA years with superior sound, but i expect we'll get a reissue once his new contract has been signed.

I can't wait!! it will actually be my first time, I don't have any previous version.

"and the most comprehensive investigation yet published regarding the uncertain provenance of Bowie's Bruce Springsteen cover 'It's Hard to be a Saint in the City'. Which album session - or sessions - does it come from? At last, all is revealed."
