“The music is outside”

Friday Music will release their fifth Bowie 180g audiophile coloured vinyl for Black Friday on November 27th.

Housed in their trademark tri-fold sleeve, 1. Outside will be released for the first time on vinyl in its entirety. It will be issued as a double album pressed on white vinyl.

A single disc version titled Excerpts From Outside was released on vinyl originally, but it omitted several tracks and had edits of others.

Looks very promising. Been waiting for a full double version too long.

I'm a little disappointed that they dropped the idea of a booklet and just filled up all the extra covers in the triple gatefold with some pages from the booklet but still left out 7 of the various full page photos from the original book.

They also didn't use the black & white Nathan Adler cover from the Excerpt lp's booklet anywhere.

It also appears that some of the original artwork is no longer available as the back cover has a pretty obvious (and sloppily done) photoshop job done to blur and smear out the track titles from the Excerpts lp to then overlay the new titles.

The font for "Outside" on the front cover is different, is orange instead of red, and is overlaid on "David Bowie" differently.

And, while the font for the song titles on tbe back is the same it appears that somebody actually just did a photoshop cut and paste job with scans of the letters rather than making a font or using the original back cover. Differences include the font being white instead of red, letter and word spacing not matching the original cd, the segue titles (after the word "Segue") are in the same size font instead of being smaller on the cd, there's now an apostrophe in The Hearts Filthy Lesson, and the second Nathan Adler Segue is now labelled with " (Version 2)" after it as if we're in iTunes and need to differentiate the two. :/

All of the above aside I am glad to have the entire album on vinyl finally but do not plan on getting of my original pressing of Excerpts any time soon.
