An unknown quantity of test pressings were assembled two months prior to release by Gem. The matrix number (see detail) suggests they were pressed from US RCA stampers or are US RCA test pressings with overlaid Gem labels. The typed information glued to the plain white sleeve includes the address of Titanic Music, one of Bowie's UK publishers. Whether these discs were intended as file/reference copies or for limited promotional use is unclear. The copies that have made it to market have the same handwriting in blue felt marker on the sleeve.
