"Imp. AREACEM – A-4" usually indicates a sleeve printed in April 1972 (A=1972, 4=April). However, the date must have remained there from a previous issue, as the Mainman logo (printed on the back cover) was used only from late 1972 onwards and the price code Y was introduced in late 1973.

Original edition without a price code. In the early 70s (1971-72), most major French labels stopped producing dedicated promo copies of LPs as well as 45s, sending issue copies without price codes to radio/TV stations, press and music agencies instead. After 1972, all the copies sent were regular issues with their price codes. In theory this could be a promo. In any case, this edition was quickly withdrawn, making it is the rarest French Bowie album.

When the SNEC single letter price codes were abandoned in 1978 (IdbD Ref#23158), France introduced company specific codes and RCA's codes became 'RC' followed by the guide price number.

The first issue with a “Syndicat National de L'Edition Phonographique” (SNEP) / Ministry of Finance controlled price code. These single letter price codes existed from 1968 to 1978 and prices were controlled by the Government until 1972. Price code U was first used in 1968. Cover and labels identical to Jean-charles gautier's copy without a price code IdbD Ref#15403.

From 1968 to 1978, France used single letter price codes controlled by the “Syndicat National de L'Edition Phonographique” (SNEP) and until 1972, prices were controlled by the French Ministry Of Finance. In 1978, France introduced company specific codes and RCA's codes became 'RC' followed by the guide price number. This hybrid issue with both O and RC price codes is thought to have been issued during the changeover period in 1978. The labels are the same as the later RC 250 albums IdbD Ref#22125.
