The surround mix of the Young American album is one of the best 5.1 albums I own. After you're listening to the new mix of Win, Fascination and a few other tracks, the original stereo mixes are no longer very satisfying to hear.
At first I hated the extra backing vocals in the chorus of Win, but now when I listen to Win in stereo on my ipod, I really miss them.
And on to Fascination, the stereo mix is so lame compared to the punchy surround mix. That's a amazing sound coming from the right rear speaker. It's great when played really loud.
I wonder if Visconti will be doing a surround mix of Scary Monsters for its 30th anniversary this year?
I also hope the Station to Station surround mix is going to be as good as YA. I was dissapointed with Reality and Ziggy and to a lesser extent Heathen.
If you don't have a surround sound setup, it is really worth buying one in order to hear Young American.
