Does anyone here know if there are any official information available on the number of records issued of each of the discs in the current ongoing series of 40th anniversary 7" picture discs? I think they are all announced as "limited".

I have not been able to find such info and is wondering on what basis people are willing to pay 125 GBP for a copy of Starman (but only 10 GBP for e.g. Sorrow).

Starman was pressed to order for RSD 2012 and it was described as limited to 1000 copies on a US website. I’ve always assumed it’s a similar number for Europe.

This year’s North American RSD single, 1984 is limited to 4500 copies.

I’m not aware of any confirmed numbers for the other releases, but it was definitely easier to find last year’s RSD ‘Drive In Saturday’ than Starman. I imagine the RSD singles are also more limited than the standard releases to encourage people to visit their local record stores.

The Rock and Roll Suicide 7" is limited to 2,500 copies according to one website I read this morning (Piccadilly Records, Manchester I think).

I got a copy at 8.30 this morning from my usual RSD supplier.

I've assumed the RSD releases are fewer in number than the non-RSD ones for the same reason that Alan states.

Thanks for your replies!

I have also seen these occasional informations here and there about the number of copies of certain issues. But Picadilly Records for example must get their information from somewhere (if they are not making it up). So why can we not find any official information about this?

To me, these occasional informations still seem to be a very week basis for a decision whether it is worth paying 10 GBP or 125 GBP for a copy.

none of them are worth more than £25. don't let ebay thieves and people panic buying mislead you.
