I now got three The Jean Genie/Hang On To Yourself singles from Spain...
There is a green version and a brown version but now I found a very darkbrown version too... could someone shine a light on these three?

chas pearson will be the man in the know here... i know the spanish singles were reissued and there are differences in the small print. the first two may be the same as differences in ink density can occasionally be this distinct.

First edition comes with stereo /mono logo print on the Pink rectangle ( back cover) . The other without logo and pink rectangle is a reissue.

first issue vinyl : Typographies printed on orange label are Serif Font .

below: reissue comes with San serif font .

Well there is another version as well... the third one without the Pink Rectangle has a label with a Serif Font printed just as the first two but there are some differences:

ON THE FIRST TWO LABELS:
1] "A MainMan Production"
2] Ed.: Vaudeville Music Lt.
3] Deposito Legal:

ON THE THIRD LABEL:
1] A MainMan Production [without the ""]
2] ED. MainMan/Chrysalis
3] Dep. Legal:

Are all the so called "Green" versions with a label that's mentioned as the third one?

That's interesting, any chance of a scan of that label?

Generally here in Spain the cover of reissue are more green /golden than brown and fonts are san serif and without Pink rectangle and stereo mono logo
as the first i linked above and another there => http://www.ebay.es/itm/David-Bowie-Jean ... 500wt_1414
that 's the easy way to make difference between first issue and reissue.

As your copy has serif font on labels but same credit than the common reissue above maybe you have an alternate label print of the reissue. That is an interesting copy that i had never see.

The 1st is the Dark Brown, the second Light Brown, there is no difference between these two, the last one is the Green version... they are all with a Serif Font

Excellent, the first two copies are pretty much the same, the difference in colour is like Matt said down to the printing process, they could even have been printed at different sites.
The third single is very interesting! it's a slightly later pressing, probably from around 1974 and before they changed label design.
I want one of these, any chance you could email me large scans (300 dpi) of both sides of this label?
