News like this

Previously unseen tour footage, set designs and storyboards from the lavishly produced 1974 Diamond Dogs tour will also be on display.

merits more than just a link!

From that the quietus link:
Quote:
Seldom or never-seen highlights will include Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt's 'Oblique Strategies' idea cards (as used on 'Fame'), Burroughsian cut-up fragments of lyrics ('Blackout' from "Heroes"), Bowie's own felt tip-doodled storyboard for the 'Ashes To Ashes' video, unseen photos from the Diamond Dogs tour and a never-shown film, also from that tour, of a concert at the Tower Theatre, Philadelphia.

So the Philadelphia footage - finally we'll know for certain about Here Today Gone Tomorrow! (see this thread as well).
There is also mention of a hardcover book to coincide with the exhibition.

Planning on going next summer...

No, you can leave it until a few weeks (or even days) before your visit. It’s just a warning that tickets may not be available if you turn up without a booking.

From the V&A website:

We recommend advance booking for exhibitions to guarantee entry. A booking fee, or handling charge, is payable on all pre-booked tickets. Advance telephone tickets can only be booked up to 24 hours prior to visit.

:D Thanks for the info. Sounds promising. I'd love to see it, hope I can get a break from work and band (and also be able to bring my girlfriend along, whom I've probably been already killing with my bowie-obession - and now even more as I'm starting to plan "our vacations" around "the thin white duke" *lol*) in march next year.

The book that will be published to coincide with the exhibition is available for preorder from Amazon.

Publication Date: 4 Mar 2013.
Hardcover, 288 pages.
£31.50

Quote:
David Bowie is a pioneering artist and performer whose career has spanned nearly 50 years and brought him international acclaim. He has sold over 140 million albums, and been cited as a major influence on contemporary artists and designers working across the creative arts. This is the first book produced with access to the David Bowie archive of performance costume, ephemera and original artwork by the artist, which is brought together to present a completely new perspective on his creative work and collaborations. The book traces his career from its beginnings in London, through the breakthroughs of Space Oddity and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and on to his impact on the larger international tradition of twentieth-century avant-garde art. Essays by V&A curators on Bowie's London, image, and influence on the fashion world, are complemented by Christopher Frayling, Mark Kermode and Philip Hoare on film; Howard Goodall on musicology; Camille Paglia on gender and decadence; and Jon Savage on Bowie's relationship with William Burroughs and his fans.

I received the V&A press kit today, and there was something I hadn't read about the book:

There will also be a limited special edition: GBP500 cased hardback. Print run of 500 numbered copies each signed by David Bowie. Exclusive to the V&A Shop.

I wonder if it will cost as much as a genesis book, or even more? better start saving, but I hope it's not way out of my range.
