Interesting! It's cheap, so it will probably be five albums in a box set type thing - but a weird title though...

Is it maybe short for Zeitgeist ? (spirit of the age or spirit of the time) and if so maybe a compilation album .

Just a guess:

Zeit is German for time or era > Time in Germany > Berlin era > Berlin Trilogy

Low
Heroes
Lodger
Stage

here the tracklisting and what's up ? no new remaster .

EMI is repackaging the existing versions of the Low (1977), “Heroes” (1977), Stage (1978) and Lodger (1979) CDs together in a cardboard slipcase, under the box set name of DAVID BOWIE – ZEIT! 77-79.

The three studio albums here were released between 1977 and 1979 and are generally referred to as the somewhat misleading Berlin Trilogy.

A more unifying theme throughout the three recordings is the presence of Mr Bowie, Mr Eno and Mr Visconti.

Would be great if they released them as mini vinyl album repicas, especially Stage, like japanese ones from a few years back.

I'd rather have these albums done like the debut album and Space Oddity were done...

Yes, I'd also prefer proper reissues with lots of extras, but it looks like that won't be the case so I would rather have them in mini lp sleeves just for a change instead of bog standard jewel cases.

this is EMI using the current wave of bowiemania to flog some more of their wretched '99 stock. deluxe remasters will follow in time, but for now, here's a slipcase to make you buy these albums you already own again.

Totally! This is just old stock from the warehouse.

Did they really press all those many thousands of discs ?? From 1999 onwards sales of cd's where going down, why would they have bothered to overstock in advance?? it makes no sense.
Even in the golden age of vinyl they would press an x amount of discs , then print pre orders , and go on to re release in different waves !

I'm having an hard time believing that all this stuff was presed and printed all together more than 20 years ago, there is something else here that we don't know about.

Don't expect too much from this one, I'm sure it's just a cheap package for anyone who wants to investigate the back catalogue after hearing the new album. It's not aimed at hardcore fans who already have the Berlin era recordings.

I have the Ryko version and the EMI Reissue of Stage. What are we getting on this box, a jewelcase? if anything I'm curious about Stage.
