'2003 Ken Scott Mix' ?!?

Sorry if I'm being stupid but what was this from? Was there a 2003 Hunky Dory Remix done (like the Ziggy one)?

I'm hoping that, as with Drive In Saturday & Jean Jeanie being an indication of an Aladdin Sane remaster, this will be an indication that Hunky Dory is on it's way

Hunky Dory was remastered for the aborted "Collectors' Special Edition" mentioned on the US Strangers When We Meet compilation.

I think Ken Scott's Life Of On Mars? remaster was also used in the Swedish TV documentary, "Making Of The Song: Life On Mars?".

dead link

This 40th anniversary release features the rare Ken Scott mix, (mixed at Abbey Road Studios in 2003 that created the Ziggy Stardust 5.1 mixes)

quite a poor release IMO. Ken Scott's 2003 mix is all too similar to the original version, with little to distinguish the two. the phone call ending has been cut just before Mick Ronson's expletive. the mastering is horrible. praised for his Ziggy 40, Ray Staff made a mess of the AS40 (IMO) and now this. as can be seen from the waveform, the dynamics have been squashed, as if mastered for a typical loud digital release. there is audible distortion in areas where the dynamics have been compromised. the live b-side is less bright than on AS30, but with the loud noise floor of the picture disc combined with the below average recording quality, it's hardly worth the effort. one to look at, not listen to.

Couldn't agree more. Other than a greater emphasis on the strings throughout the mix, it's not really any different. Looks nice though.

I guess we can look forward to a 40th anniversary release of Sorrow with the '1980 Floor Show' recording on the b side next...
