Very interested in the studio cut of You've Been Around.
As for Gabrels, he made his reply in 1995, refitting the original “Around” demo with some new guitar tracks, and, in a fine tit-for-tat, he replaced Bowie’s vocals in the second verse with the actor Gary Oldman (sounding a bit like Bono).

Yes Sales Brothers only Gary Oldman included later
Cover art lists bass as Matt Gruenberg not Tony Sales.

You've Been Around Bass – Matt Gruenberg Drums, Percussion – Hunt Sales Guitar, Percussion – RG* Lead Vocals [2nd Verse] – Gary Oldman Lead Vocals, Harmony Vocals – David Bowie Lead Vocals, Harmony Vocals [2nd Verse] – Tom Dubé* Written-By – Bowie*, Gabrels*
And, if it is the demo, Tom Dubé was presumably also added later as well as Gary Oldman.

Or just not invited..... Never been keen on this fellow, and he eventually went the way of those who get a little too big for their band member boots. On the subject, I feel the only 'tribute' band worth it's salt has been the Slick, Garson, Dorsey et al, ensemble, everything else pales into insignificant paff serving only as an ego stroking money spinner for those involved.
I'm not a big Reeve Gabrel guitar fan but i think he remembers when in the 90's Bowie went to put a end to play his hits and proposed new music direction, new sound and compositions what he did with Gabrel.
I would like to listen Hours demos which sound like "Diamond dogs"
To be fair to Gabrel he added a new style and I remember loving the new sound when it was played with La La La Human steps in 1988. (Blow away so much of the bad 80s stuff).
After that it may be stated that his style of playing was over used by Bowie (and I would tend to agree) but that was Bowie's decision. More usually Bowie picks Guitarists, like a paint on an artists palette, to fit his concept with each piece. The variation of styles brings more to the table.
If you are a Guitarist picked by Bowie I doubt you say no and I am sure Reeves is aware he may have got nowhere without the patronage. He has also came clean some years ago that he got to big for his boots with the thought that maybe Bowie was "his" singer and this shows he can laugh at himself publicly.
So he may not be a favorite for Bowie's best Guitarist but he does deserve respect for what he did do. (Lucky git!)

Only one of the Sales bros is on YBA:
Just one out-take from the sessions, You’ve Been Around, has emerged so far, which can also be found on Gabrels’ The Sacred Squall Of Now, though due to later additions, only Hunt Sales’ drums and (most of) Bowie’s vocal tracks remain.
