So these are just announced... Quite nice releases I must say - at least Time reproduces a rare cover and the Berlin LP has unreleased material. Hopefully these aren't too limited - but for the last few stops of the exhibition the releases weren't particularly limited either...

DAVID BOWIE IS…

PARLOPHONE ANNOUNCES DAVID BOWIE EXCLUSIVES IN CONJUNCTION WITH
DAVID BOWIE IS AT THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM

‘TIME’ (US SINGLE EDIT) 7" SILVER VINYL
‘LIVE IN BERLIN (1978)’ 8 TRACK ORANGE VINYL MINI LP

On the occasion of the opening of David Bowie Is at the Brooklyn Museum, Parlophone is pleased to announce a selection of exclusives, only available at the Brooklyn Museum starting 2nd March.

The exhibition - David Bowie Is has been touring globally for the past five years visiting London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Tokyo, Melbourne, Bologna, Chicago and will be taking its final bow at the Brooklyn Museum in New York from 2nd March.

As with many of the other stops on the tour there will be exclusive limited Bowie vinyl for sale at the Brooklyn Museum.

‘TIME’ (U.S. single edit) / ‘THE PRETTIEST STAR’ (7” silver vinyl single / rare picture sleeve)
Exclusive to the exhibition shop at the Brooklyn Museum, this item is a translucent silver vinyl version of the 1973 ‘Time’/‘The Prettiest Star’ US 7” single complete with a reproduction of the original undistributed picture sleeve.

LIVE IN BERLIN (1978) (8 Track orange vinyl mini-LP)
Also exclusive to the exhibition shop will be an 8-track mini-LP on transparent orange vinyl, recorded live in Berlin at the Deutschland Halle, Berlin on 16th May, 1978. Four of the tracks are completely unreleased and the remaining four were only issued within the last six months, three on a digital streaming only E.P. which was only available for five days and one on the B-side of the 40th Anniversary “Beauty And The Beast” 7” picture disc released on 5th January this year. The front cover features a shot taken by fan Antoine Loogman at the show.

iSELECT (Red vinyl LP)
Due to overwhelming demand this exhibition only exclusive red vinyl LP will be made available once more. The iSelect compilation features tracks chosen personally by Bowie along with sleeve notes on a fold out insert. This LP has only previously been available in very limited quantities at other David Bowie is exhibition shops. All tracks are the studio versions from the original albums other than “Some Are”, “Time Will Crawl (MM remix)” and the live “Intro/Hang On To Yourself”. The version of “Time Will Crawl” is exclusive to vinyl on this compilation.

I hope Live in Berlin is a teaser for a full release of this concert. As it is, nice to see we're finally getting an official release of "Rebel Rebel" from that tour, for the first time ever.

So the full set list of past dodgy sound bootlegs is:-

Warszawa, Heroes, What In The World?, Be My Wife, The Jean Genie, Blackout, Sense Of Doubt,
Speed Of Life, Breaking Glass, Fame, Beauty And The Beast, Band Intro, Five Years, Soul Love, Star,
Hang On To Yourself, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City, Art Decade, Alabama Song, Station To Station, Rebel Rebel, Station To Station, Stay

The Important factor might be if there were problems with any of the officially recorded tapes of the performance in terms of quality for some tracks and that this is all that can be salvaged in terms of quality.

There was certainly room to add 1 or 2 songs to make this an LP instead of a mini LP. So the question is was this done commercially, to milk out more money by dripping in the other tracks to the market, or are the other tracks in a state where they could not be released?

Picture from E-bay, note the archival audio note.

that's a pretty standard disclaimer (translation: this record doesn't sound as good as you'd like but we have your money anyhow...and it's on coloured vinyl so that's cool, right?). personally the words "mastered by ray staff" are more of a concern!

Does anyone know what these cost if bought at the exhibition?

Yes, these are the prices at the exhibit. I haven't listened to them yet.

I took the sound quality note to mean that this recording was sourced from a 2-track stereo master, not recorded/mixed from multitrack. The two "new" songs on Stage 2017 both seem to be taken from a similar type of source, with the little audio oddities that entails (e.g., the hard panning in "Suffragette City").

Right now they are selling the leftover records online at the Brooklyn museum, this and the iSelect record for 25$ each, the Time single is labelled as being restocked on the website
https://shop.brooklynmuseum.org/collections/david-bowie-is
I bought one and had it shipped to a US adresse, that cost about $7 in shipping.

Thanks a lot for sharing the link.

They seem to be shipping outside the USA too. I-select has been bugging me for a long time. This should knock the e-bay prices right down. Wonder how many have been pressed?

Pete.
