The inner bag has ’Printed in USA’ printed in the lower left corner below the picture of Woody and ’A Gem Production’ printed in the lower right corner below the picture of Ronno. Rear cover has the US cat. no. below the RCA logo in the lower right corner and a US footer. The back is a single sheet glued onto the heavy card sleeve. Pressed on Dynaflex vinyl.

Sleeve as UK, but quite a dark repro of the original, with yellow 'Original Master Recording' banner across the top edge on front and back. Audiophile pressing information bottom right. The record is housed in a clear plastic and rice paper sleeve within a heavy card wraparound advertising other MFSL releases.

NB: manufactured in Japan for US-based MFSL, one of two Bowie titles, the other being Let's Dance.

This is the 1st US edition of the Ziggy album. It is also the only first edition worldwide that uses the original artwork, UK issues not using original artwork until the third issue. Most other covers in the world derive from this issue.

Compared to the second edition (at the top of this topic with tan labels) the cover is slightly lighter, providing more detail. The inner sleeve is identical in content, but different in structure. The first edition has a curved top opening end, the second, tan, edition is straight.

This pressing may have also been distributed in the US with a UK sleeve.
